STILL ALIVE/SCHOOL UPDATE

Simple "flash card" project in GD1. Primarily using/manipulating grid.
Indesign is so simple, wish we were doing more sophisticated projects.

NEW TRACK

Finally got around to writing another song after nearly a year of nothing music-wise.
Same old, same old. Record guitar, sample, loop seamlessly, etc.

NO PHOTOS

That coffee table posted earlier-- I put a heavy opaque finish on it.
Hopefully I haven't ruined it. This is just an experiment after all.

Will post results once it stops raining and when I have a dry surface to apply polyurethane..
Hopefully it accepts the poly.....

COFFEE TABLE FINAL

Final project for Design 4.
Furniture design. Entirely aspen, every surface made of three laminated sheets.
Current cost: ~$130
Final cost: Probably about $170. Needs L-brackets, stain and finish.
Weight: easily 100+ lbs. Ugh....

NEARLY.. NEARLY....

Excuse the shoddy photographs. Made a lot of progress just in the past day.
It's always fun to say you've learned something too.
-Welted pockets (??)
100% synthetic. From the shell to the thread.

Pretty fun. And it shines. Literally.

COLLAR, BREAST(S) AND BUTTONS/POCKETS

Will post pictures later.
It's as if every time I want to show progress of a piece, my camera's battery is almost certainly dead.

HAIKUS

Oh, not this again
Please, let it be 'til summer.
You know she's crazy.

Spring seems to soon
To reopen this wound, this
poison thorn in your heart.

Wait for a letter
to sound the alarm for this
one final showdown.

One conversation
is all I need to set my
mind to peace, for good

GYPSY AND HER MAN

This one wasn't written by me. Instead, it was authored by my best friend around a year ago. I think he's since then forgotten about it, and given the current circumstances he's facing, I thought it might provide some clarity. It did for me.
"At the coffee shop down on Maryland,
there's a gypsy dancing with a severed head.
And she smiles wide at all of those who attend.
Like she doesn't mind that her man is dead.

As his blood drains out and descends the wall
it collects and drips in the bathroom stall.
But she smiles still as she slips and falls.
A sound that echoes in the empty halls.

And I wonder now if the artists intent
of the works conception and my sentiments
walk hand in hand on the gray cement
as a destined couple or as failing friends.

So our glances fall as she stands on
since my time is nigh and my paper is done.
But she's locked the door to the blaring sun.
And she grins at me, like she's having fun."

Not meaning to rub salt in old (or new) wounds. If you want me to provide an interpretation, I'd be more than happy to provide the explanation.

FOR PORTFOLIO

I've decided on using these two (as a diptych) for a part of my
portfolio submission to a few schools.

MAKE SOMETHING COOL EVERYDAY (3)

My take on my girlfriend's graphic design project.
(I'm not so sure the quote is accurate, the usage of 'what' seems a little strange, however, I was just using what I had at my disposal at the time..)

MAKE SOMETHING COOL EVERYDAY (2)

A bit of a rip off of currently existing album artwork for a band.
Playing with layers/lines and finding my own complimentary font for the (minimal) cloud formations.
